Univention invites users, IT experts and technology manufacturers to the 11th Univention Summit in Bremen. Under the motto “Use your Identities”, more than 350 guests will come together on 31 January and 1 February 2019 to converse on the secure use of digital identities and the associated data as well as on the digitisation of education. In addition, numerous IT managers from companies and the education sector will speak about the successful use of open source software in their respective organisations.

Fascinating lectures on all aspects of digital identities

Lectures, workshops and round tables as well as a relaxed evening get-together will once again make the Summit the perfect meeting place for all Open Source enthusiasts. Highlights will include the traditional keynote address by visionary and Univention CEO Peter Ganten as well as a lecture by Evgeny Morozov, an internationally acclaimed expert on the commercial use of digital data through companies such as Amazon and Google.

Dirk Loßack, former Minister of State, will give tips on how digitisation projects can be set in motion before the states reach agreement on the School DigitalPact and the start of a nationwide ID service. And Thore Kühn from the Ministry of Education, Science and Culture in Schleswig-Holstein will present how the federal state is tackling the challenges of digitisation together with the municipalities and schools this year.

Being an expert in the use of tablets in teaching, Bechtle, a leading German systems house, an Apple Solution Expert and Univention partner, will be demonstrating in a workshop how the central and data protection-compliant administration of iPads for schools can be designed using the new UCS Apple School Manager Connector. In addition, the IT managers from Bremen and Fulda, the Kassel district, the Sachsen-Anhalt state school authority and the Mecklenburg municipal service will report on their digitisation projects and show what effective cooperation between school authorities and municipal service providers can achieve with school IT solutions.

The participants of the 11th Univention Summit will also gain a first exclusive insight into the Univention Corporate Server (UCS) roadmap, which will be published in March 2019 in version 4.4, as well as into the planned innovations of UCS@school, the basis for central IT infrastructures for educational institutions. In the accompanying trade show, 25 providers will present their software and hardware solutions. And for the second time, the Summit will feature a technician bar camp. The Univention Summit

Around 350 IT managers from system houses, cloud service providers and software manufacturers will meet with users from the industry and education sectors for networking and sharing of knowledge through lectures, workshops and round tables at the Univention Summit. The Univention Summit is the ideal opportunity to learn about IT trends, get to know new solutions, learn from best practice examples and talk to each other. The focus will be on the digitisation of education, easy and secure access to applications for corporate IT and the importance of open systems for the protection of digital identities. Exciting keynote speeches, user and partner presentations, technical and strategic workshops and a relaxed evening get-together make the Summit the perfect meeting place for all open source enthusiasts.

The 25 software vendors and providers of open source solutions who will present their developments in the exhibition area and will be available for technical discussions and discussions, are another central feature of the Univention Summit 2019. These include renowned companies, such as agorum, Bechtle as Apple Solution Expert Bildung, Nextcloud, Heineking Media, LINET Services, Kopano, ONLYOFFICE, ownCloud, PaperCut, Thomas-Krenn.AG and Zammad.

Venue

The Univention Summit 2019 will take place on 31 January and 1 February 2019 in city of Bremen at the Swissôtel near the Central Station. Registration for each company amounts to 99 euros for up to three participants.
