Xentral is an ERP/CRM system that can be easily installed via the UCS App Center. Until now, the software was available for download under the name “WaWision” in the Univention App Center. Xentral is a combination of a flexibly expandable basic version with its own AppStore. With Xentral, every company can individually define the scope of functions and thus configure exactly the ERP system it needs for its requirements. The free open source version already covers all important business processes such as master data management, quotation and order management, invoicing, warehouse management, shipping, time recording and much more. Xentral is extremely scalable with high performance and is used in particular by online retailers.
From the hardware manufacturer to the ERP system: Xentral was developed from the company’s own needs
Xentral has an exciting history behind it. Originally, the company “embedded projects” started in 2008 with the production of microcontroller boards and sold them via its own online shop. When the sales figures increased and so did the administration costs, the team was looking for an ERP system. The requirement: It should run on the Linux operating system and in the browser. Founder Benedikt Sauter and his team did not want to make themselves dependent on one manufacturer for core technologies. However, there was no solution at that time that even rudimentarily met the requirements profile of the tech start-up at that time – the birth of Xentral. Benedikt Sauter developed his own enterprise resource planning software, the basic structure of which is today still based on open source web technologies.
Individually expandable: Xentral is based on open source technologies
The programming languages PHP and MySQL are used as technology. The environment is very slim and lightweight. Since the software is based exclusively on open source web technologies, you can easily connect your own program modules.
New: Xentral 19.1 in the Univention App Center
The new Xentral 19.1 version is already available in the App Center. In addition to the new responsive layout, the features also include automatic reading of receipts via text recognition, an interface to shopware and comprehensive new receipt templates, insertion of many items with just one click and the addition of images and other special fields. Other new features include the calendar view for time recording, team chat and the new REST API 2.0.
In addition, Xentral 19.1 is particularly interesting for young entrepreneurs and online retailers. In addition to the new functions, it also contains an unlimited number of standard connections to online shops such as Magento, Spryker, Shopify or Shopware, to marketplaces such as Amazon, eBay or Rakuten as well as interfaces to various shipping providers such as DHL, DPD, GLS and more.
Over 150 modules and interfaces in the Xentral App Store
In addition to the open source version, Xentral is available in the Starter, Business and Enterprise variants. Starting with the starter version, additional modules can be installed via the Xentral App Store. Currently more than 150 different modules and interfaces are available – from sales cockpits to automated warehouse management to extensive production programs – which can be purchased and activated with just a few clicks. Frank Thelen invests in Xentral
Since the beginning of 2018 Frank Thelen, CEO of Freigeist Capital and investor in the TV show “Die Höhle der Löwen” is involved in Xentral. The next joint steps are the expansion into Europe and the further development of the range of services, so that Xentral can play a leading role in the international comparison. In the course of the planned internationalization, the company name was also changed to Xentral. The new name stands for the fact that all business processes can be coordinated at a central location. “Xentral is an innovative, revolutionary solution created for the growing eCommerce market. I see a great chance in it,” says Thelen.
