UCS allows administration of a data volume established by a quota for users, user groups and users within a group. This can be done to prevent individual users from monopolising the entire storage space on a file server and saving unnecessary data. The policy-based administration means that these settings can be easily adopted for other users. The Univention Management Console makes simple evaluation and adaptation of the existing memory limits possible.
The file services of UCS are offered via protocols such as NFS and SMB3. In addition, access to shares via a web interface is possible. The individual protocols can be disabled/enabled selectively and administrated via further options. The access rights are assigned based on the users and groups.
