Often complicated, complex Enterprise apps now inexpensive, simple to install and maintain
BOSTON, MA – August 6, 2014 — Univention GmbH, the leading European provider of open source IT infrastructure management solutions, today announced the addition of several new apps to its popular Univention App Center. Univention App Center is a marketplace for all available Univention Corporate Server (UCS) components and extensions, as well as a wide selection of software apps for business IT.
The newest additions to the App Center represent popular enterprise apps from vendors in the US, Switzerland, Russia, and France, including ownCloud, Inc., 7iSolutions AG, Mandriva SA, and Kaspersky Labs.
“Univention’s App Center ecosystem is expanding consistently each month, illustrating the market’s requirement for an inexpensive, uncomplicated way to integrate and maintain enterprise apps that are often quite complex and difficult to integrate especially into existing corporate environments,“ said Peter Ganten, Univention CEO. ”We are continually adding new key functionality to the App Center from our partners around the world.”
Univention App Center
Additions to the Univention App Center are expanding each month with an increasing number of new enterprise apps for UCS. In the past year the number of new apps from the Univention App Center has grown over 100% as companies are starting to build business models around Univention and its App Center.
Recent apps added to the Univention App Center include a range of solutions that enhance the value of UCS, including:
- Enterprise file/sync/share with ownCloud 6
- IT Asset Management with Mandriva S.A.’s Mandriva Pulse
- Business Collaboration with 7iSolutions’ 7iApp-Wordpress and -Dokuwiki
- Enterprise IT Security with Kapersky Labs
“The Univention App Center is an ideal marketplace for us to integrate identity management with business apps and services with that function outstandingly,” said Michael Hofmann, CEO of 7iSolutions. “From our perspective, UCS satisfies all the operating platform requirements for any organization to operate a professional IT infrastructure.”
The App Center is a hub for enterprise software that is often complicated to install, integrate and maintain. Now these apps can be easily integrated from within the App Center, enabling integrated management with UCS, and simplifying the integration of apps into enterprise environments using Microsoft Active Directory. Pre-configured turnkey apps are available immediately in the Univention Management Console and ready to use. This allows the central administration of identities on a domain level and omits separated identity management within each single application, e.g., user data for different services. Just as with UCS, Univention App Center can be used on premises, in the cloud or in hybrid scenarios. Benefiting Univention’s partners as well, the App Center integrated marketplace allows the direct purchase of the applications from any company within the ecosystem.
“Mandriva is proud to combine its know-how in IT asset management with Univention’s long and rich experience,” said Jean-Manuel Croset, CEO of Mandriva. “Pulse on UCS will allow system administrators to massively increase productivity and ensure data privacy and integrity on all the devices connected to the company’s network.“
