Test integrated enterprise solutions from Univention and Zarafa at the CeBIT
According to Univention, there is ongoing interest in the combination of the Univention Corporate Server and the Open Source groupware Zarafa as an alternative for Windows servers. Since December, the software producer already reports more than 6500 downloads of its infrastructure solution UCS, which is equipped with Active-Directory compatible services, mostly in Germany. Zarafa’s Open Source groupware and collaboration software, which can be compared to Microsoft Exchange, can be installed in UCS with just a few clicks. Visitors can get to know this combination on Univention’s CeBIT booth E16 in hall 6, on which Zarafa is also represented.
In this article, h-online informs that the governmental IT supplier for schools in the German federal state of Baden-Württemberg will discontinue the development of its school server solution paedML Linux and switch to our product UCS@school.
Univention publishes new client system with central management

CeBIT: Try out flexible server alternatives with a wide range of business applications live
Univention, a manufacturer of Open Source software products for the operation and management of IT infrastructures, will be demonstrating in Hall 6 (Booth E 16) at CeBIT how the new Univention App Center can be used to set up a wide range of IT business applications in just a few steps and integrate them in a complete IT concept — irrespective of whether the applications are operated on the company’s network or on the cloud. The shared booth will also host seven Univention partners exhibiting applications optimised for use with Univention Corporate Server. In addition, the Document Foundation will be demonstrating the free Microsoft Office alternative LibreOffice at the Univention booth.
The new version of the Voice over IP solution “Asterisk4UCS” provides comprehensive functions for the user and infrastructure management and combines these with important telephonic functions, such as the changing of holding patterns, mail boxes and call-throughs.
From now on, Asterisk4UCS is available in the App Center in UCS 3.1 and can thus be installed with a few mouse clicks.
The Univention technology partner and provider of the VoIP solution “Asterisk”, the Bremen-based company Decoit GmbH, ensures regular updates and a seamless integration in UCS and the easy to operate interface of the UCS management tools.
