Working student internal IT

Even as a working student with less weekly working hours, I always feel involved and am treated as a full-fledged colleague. Therefore I am all the more happy to start working for Univention directly after my studies as IT system engineer.

What do you do as a working student in internal IT?

I primarily maintain our self-developed software for recording working hours, but I also support my colleagues in maintaining the internal IT systems.

What do you like about your work?

As a working student I am allowed to assume responsibility and I am not only assigned to boring tasks. The work I do is always based on my interests and knowledge.

What does a typical working day with you look like?

I start my day relatively early from home or the office by doing communication, keeping myself informed about news from the company and planning my tasks for the day. After the daily team meeting I then go about my tasks alone or as part of a team. I can arrange my breaks very freely. At the end of my day, I usually have task meetings or topic-related meetings.

What did you learn at Univention?

At Univention I definitely deepened my knowledge of Linux and Python, and I have also gained insights into many areas of system administration. I have got to known here both the pure product development and the work as a service provider.

Why do you like working at Univention?

I particularly like the fact that we really live our motto “be open” and that we deal with each other in an open and transparent way. Even as a working student with less weekly working hours, I always feel involved and am treated as a full-fledged colleague. Therefore I am all the more happy to start working for Univention directly after my studies as IT system engineer.

And finally: What do you like to do in your free time?

In my free time I am an archer, play bass and occasionally attend a lecture.
