Install office software from Open-Xchange with just a few clicks
In addition to the communication and collaboration software OX App Suite, the text editor OX Text from Open-Xchange is now also available in the Univention App Center. Both applications can be installed with just a few clicks and automatically integrated in UCS’ central user and service management.
Bremen, Nuremberg, 29th April 2014. OX App Suite offers users a browser-based web desktop with which they can edit their e-mails, address books and appointments and manage image, audio, video and Office files in one central application. The text editor OX Text complements the range of functions with the possibility of editing Microsoft Word and OpenOffice/LibreOffice files directly in the browser. As OX Text only saves the changes and not the complete document, the formatting and layout of the original document are preserved completely. This innovation is a fundamental requirement for successful cooperation with employees, business partners and friends who wish to continue using their respective desktop office software. OX Text also allows the shared editing of documents. As the write access switches between participants, the changes made by all the participants are displayed in the browser immediately.
Peter Ganten, Managing Director of Univention, sees in OX Text a particularly practical addition to the wide range of enterprise apps available in the Univention App Center: “Until now, being able to edit documents online in a browser required the documents to be saved on clouds offered by providers such as Google and Microsoft.
