From now on, all UCS users can easily install the Open Source ActiveSync implementation Z-Push by Zarafa via the Univention App Center with a few clicks of the mouse. Z-Push synchronizes e-mails, contacts, calendars and tasks between groupware systems and most mobile devices in real-time. Z-Push emulates therefore the ActiveSync functionality of a MS Exchange server. It is not necessary to install any additional software on the device. Requests for dates, e-mail encoding, out-of-office assistant and server-side security policies are also possible.

Mobile data synchronization is becoming more and more important. Here, ActiveSync is the most significant platform being able to communicate with the Exchange Server and the Research-in-Motion’s BlackBerry Enterprise Server (BES). Z-Push is again the standard of ActiveSync-compatible solutions from the Open Source sector.

Further information on Z-Push can be found on the following website:

If you are interested in downloading and testing Univention Corporate Server including Z-Push, download a free installation image of UCS 3.1. Install then Z-Push for up to 5 users via the Univention App Center with a few steps.
