Development of a state-wide directory service

In Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania, we won the tender for the development of a state-wide directory service in 2020. The directory service based on UCS@school is supposed to record various user groups with different requirements and distributed responsibilities. Through a central identity management system, UCS@school can manage over 200,000 accounts. That includes the connection of 285 school authorities, 614 general and vocational schools, and about 187,600 pupils and 14,700 teachers. The applications provided should be accessible via single sign-on.

Integration of UCS@school

For the central administration of user accounts, the Ministry of Education runs UCS@school on several servers in its data center. In addition, the user data from Microsoft Active Directory imports into UCS or OpenLDAP via the UCS AD connection. The UCS@school ID Connector is to be used as a central component soon. That will allow the identities to replicate the municipal data centers and service providers. Furthermore, the learning management solution itslearning connects to the identity management of UCS@school. Thus, itslearning is currently used by around 150,000 users from over 370 schools using the UCS@school portal cloud.schule-mv.de via single sign-on. In addition, we offer self-service functions with which users can manage their accounts themselves and reset passwords.
