Blogheader UCS Release 5.2-1

The first patch level release since the release of UCS 5.2 brings updates to the Debian base as well as improvements in the performance of Nubus and for the self-service functions – for both UCS 5.0 and UCS 5.2.

Performance Improvements in the Directory Manager

In close cooperation with our customers, we are constantly looking for ways to optimize the performance of our products. Part of the releases is such an improvement in changes to group memberships. This has enabled us to drastically reduce the runtimes of the Univention Directory Manager while changing group memberships, especially for small changes to groups with thousands of members.

Compatibility of E-Mails from the Self Service

The Univention Self Service can send emails to users who want to create a new user account for Nubus or reset a (forgotten) password. In the past, these emails were not delivered to some customers if the potential recipients used a Gmail account, as a header entry in the emails was not accepted by Gmail. We have now adjusted this and thus made the delivery of the mails by the Self Service possible again.

Update of UCS 5.2 to Debian 12.9

With UCS 5.2-1 we have updated the basis of Univention Corporate Server to Debian 12.9. Through errata updates in the past weeks, we have already directly addressed and closed the security gaps that have become known since then. With UCS 5.2-1, we are now also making the other package updates from the current Debian Point Release 12.9 available for UCS.

Overview of Patch Level Releases

With the publication of the patch level releases, we are following our fixed release cycles for UCS and are releasing an update for both UCS 5.2 and 5.0, which cumulate all changes previously published as errata and provide new installation media. These are now available as versions 5.2-1 and 5.0-10 and contain the improvements mentioned above (with the exception of the Debian upgrade, which of course only applies to UCS 5.2).

As always, more detailed information on the scope of the releases can be found in the release notes for UCS 5.2-1 and UCS 5.0-10 and help articles for UCS 5.2-1 and UCS 5.0-10.

While we will continue to publish patch level releases for UCS 5.2 on a quarterly basis, UCS 5.0 will still see errata updates, but official patch level releases will only be made as required and at irregular intervals.
