Blog Header New Training Concept

Almost four years ago, a new training concept was launched and has been continuously developed ever since. The lockdown forced us to switch to remote training, which proved to be so effective that we still rely on it today. This year, we introduced some innovations to make our training sessions even more practical and flexible, which I would like to briefly present to you in this article.

New Developments in the Training Concept

Extended Content: The training materials have been enhanced to include specific requirements for UCS@school. We now differentiate between two target groups: Administrators, who perform tasks such as adding users or managing passwords through the UCS@school graphical interface, and System Integrators, who are responsible for implementing and operating UCS@school in the data center and connecting new services, such as via the ID Broker. This separation enables targeted training that is optimally tailored to the specific needs of each group.

Modularity and Flexibility: Our training concept is now even more modular. The training sessions are spread over just two days per week, giving participants enough time to deepen their knowledge before attending the second part of the training. Additionally, the training environment remains active during this time, allowing participants to immediately apply and test what they have learned.

Expansion of the Trainer Team: To further enhance the quality of the training sessions, we have expanded our trainer team. Robert Heyer and Silke Meyer have now joined as trainers, offering a wide range of expertise and bringing a wealth of practical experience from the projects they manage.

Individual On-Site Training: Another highlight is the option to have tailored training sessions conducted exclusively for your own organization—on-site if desired. This allows for targeted training that addresses the specific needs of the institution and focuses on particular system requirements or the unique demands of the support team.

Overview of the Four Training Modules

The training concept consists of four modules focused on our two solutions, UCS and UCS@school. Participants have the option to take individual modules, such as only Module A1 if they do not require extensive command-line knowledge. Additionally, the modules can be scheduled flexibly across different dates—for instance, Module A1 can be attended in November, with Module A2 following in February. The following overview highlights which modules are beneficial for a comprehensive training and the skills each module imparts.

The UCS Technical Training consists of two modules (A1 and A2) and is conducted remotely over four days (eight hours each day).

The UCS@school Technical Training includes four modules (A1, A2, B1, and B2) and spans a total of six days, also conducted remotely.

The modules cover the following content:

  • Module A1: “UCS Installation and Administration Essentials”
In this module, participants learn step-by-step how to install and efficiently manage UCS.
  • Module A2: “UCS Advanced Administration & Operation”
This module deepens participants’ knowledge, focusing on command-line administration and hands-on exercises for operating UCS domains.
  • Module B1: “UCS@school Administration”
This module focuses on managing UCS@school environments, teaching participants how to optimally provide IT services tailored to educational settings.
  • Module B2: “UCS@school – Design, Installation, Configuration, and Operation”
Here, participants learn how to design, operate, and perform essential administrative tasks in UCS@school environments.

Upcoming Dates

The next training sessions will take place from November 26 to December 4 (UCS) and November 26 to December 12 (UCS@school).
