AV Mail and AV Proxy New in the Univention App Center

In the IKU AV Mail and AV Proxy solutions there are now two new Univention apps for mail and proxy servers available from our partner in Saarbrücken, IKU. The apps are based on the multi-award-winning scan engine from Avira and can be integrated in existing UCS environments via the App Center.

AV Mail

With AV Mail, IKU has further developed both the scope of use and the functionality of the tried-and-tested Avira MailGate suite. The AV Mail app checks e-mails at a Linux SMTP gateway in a procedure where the mails are received via SMTP, scanned, and checked for malware. Depending on the configuration, infected e-mails are either deleted or sent to quarantine. The user can also customize the configuration for how the notification should occur when problems are detected.

AV Proxy

The AV Proxy app provides centralized protection for all workstations with Internet access and allows checking of HTTP, HTTPS, FTP, and even SSL accesses to websites infected with malware. In this respect, the proxy can be employed for different areas, e.g., also as a transparent or reverse proxy. In addition, AV Proxy offers the possibility of defining exceptions for the SSL scan, thus also guaranteeing security for authorization and online banking procedures. Access rights can be defined via roles for users (group memberships) and hosts. The authentication and authorization can be performed via various mechanisms and against a variety of backends, e.g., LDAP, AD, or Kerberos.

AV Mail and AV Proxy are available in the Univention App Center and can be tested free of charge, with no obligation, and with no functional limitations for a whole month. Once this period elapses, you can then preserve the configuration and reactivate the product by purchasing a valid license key.
