Suppliers can now also offer corporate solutions for sale in the Univention App Center
Bremen, 10th March 2014. Univention GmbH, a leading European provider of Open Source products for the cost-efficient operation and effective administration of IT infrastructures (www.univention.com) will be demonstrating the new, expanded marketplace version of the App Center for the first time at the CeBIT in Hanover (10th-14th March, Hall 6, Booth H15). Users of the enterprise operating system Univention Corporate Server (UCS) can now not only install applications with a click of the mouse in the App Center, but also have the possibility of purchasing the respective app there directly from the supplier. The new function will be used by a number of applications such as the groupware solutions Open-Xchange and Zarafa and the file-sharing platform ownCloud right from the start. Visitors to the Univention booth at the CeBIT will be able to get an idea of the new possibilities of the App Center and experience additional new UCS features such as the AD-Takeover wizard for the simple migration of Active Directory domains, for example.
“The idea to introduce a simple purchasing function in the App Center came directly from the requests of our customers and partners”, said Peter Ganten, Managing Director of Univention. “In the case of many software providers, we were already preaching to the converted. Around a dozen providers agreed to participate without hesitation.” With the marketplace Univention is expanding the App Center even further to create a central resource for server applications and a range of services covering all aspects of business IT. The simple integration of UCS in any IT infrastructures and the growing multitude of business apps in the Univention App Center make UCS an ideal platform for the evaluation, integration and subsequent operation of a wide range of business applications.
